head chef Matty Roberts, Cass Wallace and our daughter Odessa love Berrima. Hospitality is what we know; we have been at it for nearly 20 years. We are lovers of the Southern Highlands and celebrators of local produce.

Located in the heart of the historic Berrima Village, eschalot is a short, 10-minute drive from Bowral cafés and restaurants. Escape the hustle and bustle and soak up the vibrant and nourishing atmosphere of the Berrima countryside.

An abundant kitchen garden ...

helps to sustain our kitchen and we are committed to collaborating with local growers. Our menus adapt to what’s in season, to what’s fresh and to what’s downright delicious. An attainable paddock to plate experience is dished up, full of beautiful, fresh surprises and local nods.

eschalot have accepted many prestigious awards over the years, but for us the acknowledgement we seek most is from the locals who dine with us week-in, week-out and the Southern Highlands’ visitors who tell us they will make the trip again to eat at our table.

We are confident in what we do and how we do it. You, your family and friends are welcome at our table. There is no dress code, just enjoy. From small intimate gatherings, to overdue long lunches with your girls, to 70th wedding anniversary celebrations; we are your place, and your people.

Our dining experience is shared in one of the most iconic, historic buildings in the Southern Highlands. We have recently breathed new life into the interiors, so expect to dine in an inspiring space reflecting a fusion of history and modern, fresh tones. Midnight blue walls house antique furniture and thriving indoor greenery. Our outdoor dining area is enchanting and socially fuelled.
